Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology covers all the applications of hardware, software, system integrations and innovations. Until 2012, the RFID market will reach NTD2000 billion. In order to enter this booming market, Mosel Vitelic has signed a technology transfer agreement with ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute), and established AMOS Technology Inc. to develop high-performance UHF RFID ICs, Antennas, Readers and Tags.

The collaborative venture would integrate ITRI's R&D capabilities with Mosel Vitelic's wealth of experience in production and created a solid foundation for AMOS. It will create the conditions needed for continued growth, and will help Taiwanese firms to develop overseas markets. This collaborative investment project would help to build up the product development and manufacturing capabilities needed to achieve sales growth and develop international markets. The emergence of a Taiwanese RFID industry would be able to compete effectively against the leading international players in the RFID market.
AMOS will be the first Taiwanese RFID firm whose products conform to the international EPC standard, and the first to possess comprehensive R&D and production capabilities for UHF RFID front-end products (including RFID tags and readers).
What is RFID?
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) involves attaching an electronic tag containing an tiny integrated circuit (IC) to products. Using Radio Frequency (RF) technology, the identification data stored on the IC can be transmitted to various types of systems for use in entrance control, automatic payment, product recognition, inventory tracking, retailing, security, gasoline purchase, electronic ear-tagging of domestic animals, car anti-theft systems, toys, etc.
Product Applications
Applications for RFID technology include manufacturing , logistics (including warehousing and transportation) , and“digital home” applications.
